Every night we go to bed feeling behind. We wake up with what seems to be an insurmountable list of things to accomplish. Our houses need work, the children have school assignments (oh yeah and that project due Monday we discovered Sunday night). At work, we need more… more production, more sells, more clients. It seems like a never ending cycle.
This doesn’t even seem to address our relationships. Maybe we are struggling with great hurt, disappointment, or loneliness. Our parents are becoming children or our children are needing parents. The promise of love and romance rear their illusory heads every now and then when we utter those words, “I wish their life, was my life”.
Then comes this amazing a freeing verse that we desperately want to comprehend: “Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest”. What is REST? Does that mean sleep… a weekend a way… or rest for my very weary soul.
We will look at the following concepts:
- The meaning of “Shabbot” from the Creation account.
- The effect of the fall on our ability to “rest”.
- Jesus and eternal rest.
- From Sabbath day to Resurrection day.
- Practical Ramifications of Living the Sabbath Rest.
