The Rev. Canon Alan Hawkins, Rector
Alan serves as the Rector for Church of the Redeemer. After a long career in ministry that included time as a youth pastor, college minister, and church planter, he started Redeemer in his living room in 2008 and has garnered great joy from watching the Redeemer community start, grow, and mature.
Alan also serves in various roles for both the Diocese of Christ Our Hope and Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) as well as filling the role of Church Planting Network Leader for the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON).
Alan has been married to his wife, Angela Kaye Hawkins, since 1993 and they have five children: Joshua, Emily, Athan, Ciaran, and Ryan. Alan is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program at Asbury Theological Seminary.
Rev. Drew Hill, Sr. Associate Rector
Drew Hill earned his Master of Divinity Degree at Denver Seminary and has been serving as a pastor at Redeemer since 2010. He oversees parish ministries and also works in a mission-wide leadership role with Young Life. He is married to Natalie and they have three children: Honey, Hutch, and Macy Heart. The Hills have previously been in ministry in Durham, Charlotte, Athens (GA), and Colorado.
Drew has a passion for youth ministry and founded an Anglican summer camp called “Camp Booyah” in 2015. Drew is the author of Alongside: Loving Teenagers with the Gospel, winner of the 2019 Christian Book Award.
If you beat Drew in a game of foosball, he’ll buy you lunch.
Rev. Jonathan Munyakazi, Pastor of East African Congregation
Originally from Congo, Jonathan spent 8 years in Rwanda & Kenya working as an assistant pastor and teacher overseeing youth ministry and church growth, and emigrated to the U.S. in 2008. He graduated from Gospel Garden Bible College in Kenya, and earned a diploma in Leadership and Church Growth while serving with the African Ministries Network in Rwanda. He speaks 6 languages and has worked as an interpreter with Church World Service, serving refugees in Greensboro. He currently leads the East African congregation and 3pm worship service, and organizes revivals and prayer meetings in partnership with other sister churches in the area.
Jonathan is married to his wife Anastasie, and they have 6 children - Laurence, Patrick, Maxime, Angel, Jennifer & Jasmine.
Jessie Meriwether, Administrative Director
Jessie oversees all of the administration work for New Garden Park: Parish, Park, Farm and Abbey. She has a Masters in Nonprofit Management from HPU, has been on staff at Church of the Redeemer since 2012, and is passionate about equipping organizations for effective, efficient work. She is so in love with administrative work that she also oversees the collaboration of all church administrators in the Diocese of Christ Our Hope.
She has been married for over ten years to her husband, Chris, and has two young children.
Rev. Ryan Kildoo, Finance Director
Ryan is from Grove City, PA but has lived in NC for most of his life. He began serving at Church of the Redeemer on the worship team in early 2012. He currently works full-time as an auditor for Guilford County, and is in charge of Redeemer's accounting.
Tom Benson, Finance Assistant
After a 35-year career in Operations Management, Tom retired from the marketplace in May 2017 to pursue full-time ministry in Soul Care and Spiritual Formation Coaching. He founded the Center for Contemplative Living, Inc at the Abbey at New Garden Park and is an active member of Church of the Redeemer.
In August of 2019 Tom began providing part-time bookkeeping/ financial assistance to both Church of the Redeemer and New Wineskins Missionary Network. He is providing this support through his ministry to supplement operational expenses of the Center for Contemplative Living, Inc.
Tom is married to Leigh Ann and they have 5 adult children and 3 grandchildren. They live in Stokesdale and enjoy spending Sabbath time at their Mountain Camp near the New River State Park.
Angela Kaye Hawkins, Lay Ministry and Events Coordinator
Angela Kaye has been serving at Church of the Redeemer since it opened its doors. She has a heart for seeing people connect to the body of Christ while also growing in their relationship with the Lord and with each other. She currently oversees the many Sunday morning lay ministry service teams.
As the property at New Garden Park continues to evolve and grow, Angela Kaye will also help coordinate and oversee related events.
She spends the bulk of her time as the CEO of her family, the “Crazy Hawkins Seven,” but can often be found teaching deep water aerobics at the Spears YMCA.
Anna Johnson, Music Director
Anna has a passion for excellent music and has been overseeing the worship, sound, and presentation teams here at Church of the Redeemer since mid-2018.
When she’s not working at the church, she is chasing around her three boys Theo, Lincoln, and her husband Brandon. She loves Greensboro and doesn’t like following rules.
Dr. Jason Myers, Community Director
Jason has been at Church of the Redeemer since 2015. He serves as the director of the preaching team, helps oversee the various groups and classes, and leads one of our catechumenate groups.
Jason is also Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at Greensboro College. His Ph.D. is in New Testament and he has a forthcoming book on Paul for InterVarsity Press.
He has been married to his wife of over ten years, Lisa. They are well-traveled and have lived in Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky, but currently love calling North Carolina their home.
Judson Van Wyk, College Ministry Director/CCO Campus Minister
Judson serves as College Ministry Director at Church of the Redeemer and Campus Minister at Guilford College with Redeemer’s campus ministry partner, the CCO (Coalition for Christian Outreach). He is passionate about helping students experience the way Christ transforms every part of our lives—work, studies, relationships, politics—and calls us into a better story.
A graduate of UNC and Duke Divinity School (but a die-hard Tar Heel), his most formative experiences came while working with university students and a church plant in Edinburgh, Scotland, and living in intentional community with friends with disabilities in Durham, NC.
He is married to Lena, Church of the Redeemer’s Farm Director, and loves fresh vegetables, dogs, hiking, good coffee, good books, and tinkering with antique writing instruments.
Rachel Yowell, College Ministry Staff/Friends of Gahini Coordinator
Originally from Virginia, Rachel has been serving on staff since 2017 after completing the Greensboro Fellows Program. Since then, she has worked with college ministry at Guilford College and served part-time as the Young Life College Director at UNCG.
In 2019, Rachel began a full-time role that includes college ministry at Guilford College, coordinating partnerships in Rwanda with Friends of Gahini, assisting with recruitment for the Greensboro Fellows Program, assisting with the creation of our sermon series guides, and helping to create graphics for events.
Family Ministry Staff
Melissa Lewkowicz, Youth Ministry Director
Melissa has been on staff at Church of the Redeemer since 2016 and oversees family and youth ministry. She is also the director of Camp Booyah, an Anglican summer camp for youth. She previously worked in children's ministry and directed an inner city tutoring program.
She is married to Randy and has two children who are her favorite people in the world, River and Asher.
As an enneagram seven, Melissa loves doing anything and everything with everyone and can rarely be found sitting still (except when she’s at the beach!). She likes way too much salt on her food and is a self professed dessert snob.
Cherie Weber, Nursery Director
Cherie loves pouring into the children and families at Redeemer. She and her husband Ben have 7 children and 1 grandbaby. They have been a part of Church of the Redeemer since 2014. Prior to coming to Redeemer, they served at a children’s home in Falcon, NC, where they met their oldest son whom they adopted in 2016.
In 2017, they purchased an acre of land and have been working to transform it into a mini-farm. They enjoy partnering with other Redeemer families who have gardens and sharing resources with them.
Cherie also enjoys cooking and being with her family.
Leah Wall, Lead Catechist
Leah is grateful for the opportunity to know and serve a large portion of Church of the Redeemer through her role as Lead Catechist. Catechists echo God's message and words and she treasures her time worshiping in this way with children on Sundays. She also loves watching the Holy Spirit at work in the lives of the children and families here in Greensboro.
Confirmed in the Anglican church in 2013, Leah is in the process of ordination to the Diaconate. She has a B.A. in Biblical Studies and is nationally certified in levels one and two of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
She is married to Fr. Benjamin Wall and homeschools their children, Elisha, Genevieve, and Cassian. They have been at Redeemer since 2015.
Karen Alger, Route 45 Director
Karen loves to teach and create curriculum for our fourth and fifth grade students in Route 45! She describes teaching as her main avenue for creative expression. Karen is new to the Greensboro area, moving here in the summer of 2019 with her husband Dan and two sons Eli and Silas. Karen earned degrees in Psychology and Elementary Education from UNC-Chapel Hill. Since then her family has participated with God in planting churches in Hope Mills, NC and Dacula, GA. Karen has almost 20 years of education and children’s ministry experience, and most recently just a few months of experience in homeschooling! She is looking forward to meeting you and joining in the mission of teaching our young friends all about Jesus and His Word!
Greensboro Fellows Staff
Rev. Dodd Drake, Greensboro Fellows Director
Dodd is an Anglican Priest. He has served at Church of the Redeemer since 2014. He currently serves as the Director of the Greensboro Fellows alongside his wife of 30 plus years, Becky. Dodd and Becky have three adult children.
Dodd earned degrees from both Texas A&M and Dallas Theological Seminary. He was on staff with CRU for 18 years, an Associate Pastor for six years, and a Church Planter and Sr. Pastor for eight.
His passion is to shepherd and develop people, churches, and ministries towards community, transformation, and impact.
Becky Drake, Assistant Fellows Director
Becky loves working with the Greensboro Fellows as the Associate Director! She grew up in Eastern North Carolina and earned a degree at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. She served on staff with CRU in South Carolina, Texas, California, Japan, and North Carolina.
Becky has also worked as an event manager/planner/coordinator in Western North Carolina. Through each of these various positions, God has uniquely equipped her for this role as Associate Director.
New Garden Park Staff
Lena Van Wyk, Farm Director
Lena is the founding farm director of the New Garden Park Farm and has been working at New Garden Park since its inception in 2017. Lena graduated with her Masters of Divinity from Duke University Divinity School, where she focused on agrarian theology and creation care.
She spent many years studying Christian agricultural communities in Brazil, Italy, and the United States before receiving a call from the Holy Spirit to dedicate her life to helping a parish root in the agrarian way of life. She is passionate about developing uniquely Anglican ways to sustainably farm as a parish.
Lena is married to Judson Van Wyk, the college minister at Church of the Redeemer.
MacEntyre Allen, Park Director
MacEntyre “Mac” Allen joined Church of the Redeemer staff in 2017 and is a man of many talents and is the keeper of the master plan at New Garden Park. You can find him researching aquaponics and alternative energy systems, supporting the farm with heavy machine work, building rafters for the Oratory, and taking care of the farm dog, Naomi. He is a native of Chapel Hill, NC, worked as a commercial fisherman, had a six-year career on the water, and then got a degree in Chemical Engineering at NC State.
He is married to Sushmita and has two adult children, Kiron and Priya. He has been self-employed since 1989 and currently runs Molly Mac Gear as part of the Abbey.

Gia Lineberry, Farm Business Manager
Gia is the Farm Business Manager at New Garden Park Farm. She has her Masters in Sustainable Technology from Appalachian State University, where she researched local food systems and communities. She previously served as the Coordinator of a regional, multi-farm community-supported agriculture (CSA) in Boone, NC, and later, as the Business Manager of a clinical program at UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Social Work.
Gia is married to Patrick Lineberry, and has 3 young boys. Together, they like to garden with teeny tiny trucks and way more shovels, dirt, and mud than are necessary.
Julia Myhre, Assistant Farm Manager
Julia joined the farm team at New Garden Park as an intern while doing the Greensboro Fellows Program, but stayed on to help run the daily management of the farm alongside Lena. Julia has an undergraduate degree of Cultural and Environmental studies from Duke University where she also worked at the Duke Campus Farm and fell in love with sustainable agriculture.
From growing up in a farming town in Uganda and in the Rift Valley in Kenya, she's always been aware of the overlap of people and agriculture. She is honored to now also be involved in our East African congregation and in helping Innocent Muco plan our crops for the East African farm stand.
