College | Church of the Redeemer

Church of the Redeemer loves college students! We strongly believe that the church needs students—their passion, gifts, and enthusiasm—and students need the church. We want to help college students to find their place and experience the church not as an event or obligation, but as family.

In partnership with the CCO, we have an on-campus ministry at Guilford College (GCM: Guilford Christian Ministry), as well as a college group here at the church that welcomes students from multiple campuses and college age young adults.

How to Get Connected

If you are a college student, college age young adult, or have a heart for college students, join us for our weekly college lunch! We gather every Sunday after the 11:00 a.m. service to share a meal, build relationships with each other and other church members, and to grow in thoughtful discipleship. If you are not a Christian, you are wanted and welcome as well! This is a great place to learn more about what it looks like to follow Jesus.

Many weeks we gather in folks’ homes for a home cooked meal and the chance to get to know families from the church. Other weeks we meet at the church for “SoupSaladSermon” - a chance to unpack the sermon together over good food.

If you are interested in getting connected or learning more, our college ministry director Judson Van Wyk would love to buy you coffee or a meal and get to know you!

We know college can be both an amazing and challenging time and would love to walk alongside you during these important years of your life.

How to Serve

If you’re interested in serving with college ministry, there are two main ways to plug in:

1) Join our College Ministry Team of parish volunteers who have a heart for college students and college age young adults. This team serves as the front lines of hospitality and relationship-building with our students in the church, and also cares for our students at Guilford or who are far away in tangible ways.
2) Host our students for one of our weekly College Lunches! This is a chance to help students feel at home and not only eat good food but get to know you as well.
