About the Series:

What does it mean to be generous? Often we mainly think about money, but what if it’s more than that? Further, how might the Gospel of Jesus help us understand what it means to be generous people? The story God is telling is one of radical generosity, from the garden to Jesus, to the new heaven and new earth. Our God is abundantly generous with his creation. The story God invites us to participate in is one in which we experience generosity from God and extend generosity to others. It affects everything: our time, energy, finances, and resources. This series is meant to help us begin to explore the way God invites us into a profound story of generosity.

The stories herein paint us a lavish picture of how being generous has so much more to do than just giving money. It affects our relationships, hospitality, mission, ministry, and how we use power.

We hope that this series awakens a profound desire to be a generous people reflecting on our generous God.

The Very Rev. Canon Dr. Dan Alger

Dan was instituted as Dean of Redeemer in January 2022. As Dean, Dan serves as the equivalent of what many people think of as the “Senior Pastor” of the church. He gives oversight to the doctrine, worship, vision, community, and mission of the church.

Dan is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication, earned his Masters from Trinity School for Ministry, and his Doctor of Ministry from Asbury Theological Seminary with a concentration in church planting. His first book, entitled Planting in Word and Sacrament, was published in May 2023.

Dan also serves as the Canon for Church Planting for the Anglican Church in North America through which he leads Always Forward, an initiative which seeks to encourage and equip church planters throughout the US, Canada, and the world.
