July Sermon Series: Nehemiah

For the month of July, we’ll be in a four-week series on the book of Nehemiah. In Nehemiah, we see how God turns burden into vision and vision into action, leading His people from ruin to renewal. The book of Nehemiah isn’t just about rebuilding walls; it’s about restoring hearts as we step out with faith and courage to join God’s redemptive work. In this series, we’ll see how rebuilding is never a solo mission, but a call to pray, work, and stand alongside one another in obedience.

To help you engage more fully with this series throughout the month, we have created a 25-day reading plan. Get the reading guide here.

When we wrap up the series at the end of the month, we will be having a special worship service on Thursday, July 31st at 7pm. During this service we will walk through the various themes we learned about in Nehemiah. This will be a space for us as a community to come together to lament, repent/confess, remember the Lord, renew and reaffirm our baptismal vows, and cultivate hope for the future as we prepare for our own rebuilding of vision and purpose as a community.

Childcare will be available for children ages 0-5.

Baptisms on August 17th

We are having baptisms on Sunday, August 17th! If you’d like to have yourself or your child baptized, please fill out the form below and one of our clergy will connect with you. If you have any questions about baptism, you can reach out to Rev. Zach Croonquist, or any of our clergy.

Joint Service & Potluck, July 27th

Our next Joint International Service is on Sunday, July 27th starting at 2pm. On the last Sunday of the month, our afternoon international services host this multi-lingual joint service for all three of our services (English, Sudanese, and East African) to worship and fellowship together as one body. Be sure to stay after the service for a time of fellowship and feasting (bring a dish to share)!

Bible Study: Lessons from Lament, June 29th-Aug. 3rd

You are invited to a 6-week study on a selection of psalms of lament on Sunday mornings at 9am in the Youth Room from June 29th to August 3rd.

The book of Psalms has served as the church’s hymn book, prayer book, and an expression of her inner life. These things are true for us individually, as well. In particular, the lament psalms are for us a way to communicate honestly and deeply with God, helping us work through and understand our challenges.

Registration is helpful for planning purposes though it is not required–walk-ins welcome!

Now Hiring: Children’s Ministry Director

The Children’s Ministry Director serves as the primary point person for the engagement of children 0-5th grade in all aspects of church life. They champion ministry to children on Sunday mornings and beyond, as well as the equipping of families for ministry in the home, preparing a foundation for these young minds to live a whole life rooted in Christ.

You can learn more about this full-time position here and apply below! Please submit your application by August 10th. If you have any questions about the position, email JD Meeder.

Volunteer in Redeemer Kids!

We love our Redeemer kiddos & you don’t have to look too hard on any given Sunday to see we have LOTS of them (with more to come)! It takes many hands to care for and disciple our littlest saints. There is a current urgent need for additional hands in Redeemer Kids, specifically on the Nursery and Children’s Check-in team. If you’re interested in volunteering, sign up below to fill out the application, or reach out to Anna Lynch if you have any questions.

Fridays at the Farm & Creation School, June 27-Aug. 22

From June 27th-August 22nd, we’ll gather for Fridays at the Farm! From 9-11am, adults and older kids will work alongside our Farm to Flourish interns while harvesting that week’s crops.

While parents help with the weekly harvest, kids ages 4-10 can enjoy Creation School! Kids will cultivate eyes for wonder and a heart for worship, exploring God's creation at the Farm with hands-on activities and lots of fun! There will also be nursery available for ages 3 and under.

Please note: Creation School is a program for children of volunteers who are serving on the Farm. When registering your child for Creation School, we ask that at least one adult from your family volunteers on the farm during that time.

Donations needed for Farm to Flourish Camping Trip

New Garden Farm is organizing its first ever "Creation Discovery Hike" on the Appalachian Trail for teens involved in the Farm to Flourish program. The multi-day hike will take place August 17-20th. We are seeking gently-used backpacking and camping gear to help make this a meaningful and transformative trip for these youth.

Items Needed: sleeping bags, sleeping pads, backpacks, camping tents, and other camping gear.

We’re also accepting gift cards to local outdoor stores such as REI, Great Outdoor Provision Company, or Sportsman's Warehouse.

Donated items (or labeled loaned items) can be dropped off in the Greenhouse by Sunday, August 10th!

For more information, talk to the Farm to Flourish team in the Greenhouse after Sunday’s service, or reach out to Steven Hebbard, Hawken Sawyer, or Jake Portillo

Interim Leadership Update

Our vestry recently voted to appoint Bishop Alan Hawkins as our interim dean and bishop-in-residence. He will start this role on August 1st and will last for a period of one year. As Redeemer’s founding rector, Bishop Alan understands the values and vision of our church, as well as Redeemer’s complexities. He will partner with staff and vestry to support ministries, bring strategic clarity, and guide implementation, ensuring Redeemer is well-positioned for a new Dean to step into a healthy and revitalized church prepared for the future.

Care & Connection Request

Our call as the church is to help love and care for one another, and we are particularly sensitive to the current season that our church is in. We have many resources available to you and have created a form so that we can know how to best provide care to you. If you’d like to request pastoral care/counseling, make a prayer appointment, or have a clergy hear confession, please fill out the form linked below and a staff or clergy member will follow up with you to set up specific appointments as needed.
