Advent Collaborative

During the Advent season, we gather to create meaningful crafts to help us prepare for the Christmas season. This takes place in the Greenhouse following the Sunday morning service during the Hospitality Hour.

On December 1st, the first Sunday of Advent, we will do our traditional Advent wreath making party so that you will have an Advent wreath that you can use in your homes. You will have the option of joining us to make your wreath there or if you already have a wreath and just need candles and greenery refills, you can just stop by the table and pick them up.

On the second Sunday of Advent, December 8th, we will celebrate St. Nicholas with a story-time of his life and then make gifts for the East African children that attend our afternoon service. This will be a time to help us focus on giving and to learn why St. Nicholas was so important in the life of the church.

The third Sunday of Advent, December 15th, will find us adding to the peg doll Nativity that we started last year. This year we will be painting a shepherd, sheep and an angel. If you were not able to join us you may also paint the Holy Family that we did last year. We will continue to add to it in years to come.

On the final Sunday of Advent, we will focus on the fact that Jesus came as the Bread of Life and was born in Bethlehem that means "House of Bread." During our Collaborative time we will be using pre-made dough to make rolls for us or to give away. There will be gluten-free options.

Our prayer as a Family Ministry Team is that these Collaborative times will help prepare our hearts for the celebration of the coming of Christ as a church family and that we will use them as tools in our homes to help us focus on the true meaning of Christmas. Please sign up to let us know which Sundays you will be able to join us!
