What Love Looks Like
In today’s reading from John 14, Jesus is preparing his disciples for his imminent departure. Noting the uncertainty of how they might be feeling about this, Rev. J.D. Meeder likens this kind of love and compassion for them in the way that a parent comforts a child when they are feeling afraid. Jesus’ love looks different and he meets us in our fears and uncertainty to provide peace and comfort that surpasses understanding. Even when Jesus is no longer physically with us, we are not left as orphans, but he provides us with the Holy Spirit. This divine peace is not dependent on circumstances but equips believers to face the challenges of those hard circumstances.
